Abstract

This symposium aims to bring together engineers and scientists in academia, industry, and government labs to discuss recent advances in such related areas in structural dynamics as finite element modeling, modal testing, signal processing, model updating, structural damage detection, and system identification. Analytical, numerical, and experimental investigations as well as case studies in all these areas are welcomed. Some specific topics of interest include modeling of structures with bolted, welded, or riveted joints; recent developments in model testing techniques; excitation and sensing strategies; physics-based model updating methods; modeling of damage mechanisms; damage location and quantification; joint damage detection; and linear and nonlinear system identification theories. Applications can cover a wide variety of systems, including aerospace, marine, and civil structures, and mechanical and manufacturing systems.
